Save Guyana Forest March `95

Saxakali is working along with other organizations to conduct an awareness raising campaign and march in Guyana, lasting from two to three weeks, starting on Monday, January 1st, 1996.

Both foreign based Guyanese, and local Guyanese people will undergo the march to express support for protecting the forest in the Guyana. The marchers, starting from Berbice, Essequibo and Mackenzie will all reach up in Georgetown where a rally and a press conference will be held.

Along the route, the marchers will stop to have discussions and hold workshops in the villages and schools along the way, distribute books and supplies to schools, and so on. Topics for discussions and workshops during the march include:
