The Basic Beliels of The WPA

WPA is inspired by a vision of a society freed from ethnic fears and insecurity, in which the rights of the individual would be paramount and in which all strata of society have a critical role to play in the production of wealth and in the evolution of the social system. WPA is committed to the full and harmonious development of all of Guyana's resources - human, natural, scientific, technical, cultural for the benefit of all its people. The party is committed to the system of free individual or collective enterprise for the creation of wealth and to the utilization of all business and professional talents available, local and overseas, regardless of party affiliation, to build our nation for the good of all. None shall live in want while our productive potential remains unrealised.

WPA is committed to a goal of social justice that involves all the key social partners and leaves no part of the nation disadvantaged, destitute, uncared for or unequal in access to the resources and opportunities of the country. Social progress has to be laid on the foundation of enlightened and democratic political and legal institutions, profound social morality and the flowering of culture. WPA is firmly committed to the rights of women and to full equality and redress of past wrongs for the Amerindian peoples. The party is equally committed to a goal of acceptance of people with disabilities as full citizens who are provided with the means to function as full citizens. WPA recognises that the future of our country lies in the proverbial "hands of our youth" and will make every endeavour to give our youth the best opportunities to seize the future. WPA is committed to the preservation of the sovereignty of our territory and a responsible role for Guyana in the world community. The party firmly supports the United Nations Charter and will honour the various treaties and international obligations of Guyana, beginning with those in our own Caribbean Region, our neighbours in the Americas and our historical and ancestral ties with Africa, Europe and India.
